HISTORY OF THE TEAM
Regal F.C was born when, in late 2001, a group of NIE trainee teachers and former NYP students got together to play in a match against teachers from Princess Elizabeth Primary School. Thereafter, more games were organised and the team was established. We played every weekend, mostly around the east area.
Our first set of jersey was purchased at the beginnning of the year. Now, we have a reasonable pool of players playing for the team every week. After a shaky start of shapeless football, the team now is able to play together as a unit with fluidity and shape, with the occasional hiccups though.
However, we felt that there was no purpose in playing social games and decided to enrol in an amateur league organised by Alpha Sports Club in 2003. This was our first try at league football. We had a reasonable season and had a mid-table finish. 2004 was a better year as we had a balanced and more organised team that is competing in the Alpha Sports League. We had a strong base of regular players that we call upon each week and there are also several other players who were interested in joining our team. 2004 was also a milestone year for our club because we had been sponsored new kits and equipment by Subaru.
